There was a woman betrayed and abandoned by her cruel husband. On her deathbed, she made her daughter pledge to never marry any man on the face of the earth. But the daughter did fall in love. “What can we do?” she asked her sweetheart. “I love you, but I am a woman of my word who would never break a vow like my father did to my mother.” Her sweetheart smiled and brought her underground into the labyrinth of Mammoth Cave, where they exchanged their vows and fulfilled a promise, surrounded by ancient formations as witnesses.

The week after high school graduation, I went to visit relatives in Colorado. It was an exciting prospect to travel cross-country. A rite of passage as freeing and uplifting as the knowledge that various college adventures also awaited me just past the horizon. I can remember the tearful farewell with my parents at the LAX airport, waving to them while ascending an escalator to the inspections area, and how energetic I felt even while standing in the long line to run my belongings through the scanner.
So many people surrounded me, each walking their own paths through life and in transit to new destinations. I found the “gate” or
I found myself wanting of a light snack, something with a lot of salt, so I took a walk. Beneath the reddish glow of the streetlamps, the usual stores were just locking up, emptying the lots, leaving me king of the abandoned parking lot. So I went a little further.
To the casual observer, the sky would have been thought to be black, but the moonlight bounced off some thinly stretched clouds, revealing a blanket of velvet in the deepest, darkest shade of blue. The downtown had only a fraction of the usual crowd, as everyone was preparing to get up the following morning. In a nearby laundromat, a jazz musician practiced his saxophone, cutting

I had been living in the Bay Area for a while, and even though everything was going well for me I began to get depressed. I couldn't account for the feeling. I felt a palpable barrier between me and everybody else and everything felt fake and unreal. I had long been plagued by this sense that there was something big and potentially dangerous going on behind my back that no one was telling me about. I could not account for why I felt this way. Of course, since I felt I was losing my mind Karen and I weren't getting on very well anymore. I
Here are the new rules:
-If you vow to disagree with every argument the other side makes, you’ve lost your license to argue.
-If you believe your opinions are completely right and are unwilling to change them, you’ve lost your license to argue.
-If you are under the impression that a group of millions of people including yourself all share nearly identical values and opinions, and don’t view this as a perversion of your mind, you’ve lost your license to argue.
-People are no longer allowed to pointlessly nitpick at logical inconsistencies in the arguments of others, and instead must face the body of the problem pro

The scariest experience in my life
I was assaulted eight times, successfully. I avoided another four or so attempts. All of them were at daylight, so I find it funny when people fear going out at night more than during the day. None of them weren't the scariest experience, specially the time one of the thieves gave me my shoes back because his were newer. Idiot, those shoes were so worn because of how good they were.
Some months ago, I was run over by a car near my house. It was very, very light for a running over, I went up right after, talked to the driver, he took me to the clinic. In the end, only bruises and muscle pains. The x-rays and examinations showed that t

For a Little Cupcake
Oh little girl, broken little girl, how I wish to heal you. But this dainty doll can't glue herself. I'll remain in pieces. Living in a toss up world, how can I survive? Will today breed tears or smiles? Only time will tell.
I am another faceless teenage girl, writing poorly and shoving it down the throats of strangers, giving them the burden of fixing me. There is not one original thing about me. And that's the truth. But how do I tell you that? How can I look into your innocent hazel eyes, and tell you "You will never amount to anything."
It's hard enough to admit to the me of now, how am I going to bring myself to tell the me of long ago

Insensitive People Scare Me!
On March 18, 2015, my co-worker walked into my office and announced, "I have a Spanish Question."
This is an older lady. She is at least in her fifties and I was caught off guard and chuckled.
"Well, I might have a Spanish Answer."
She asked me the difference between bien, bueno, y buen. So, I gave her an improvised lesson from my past experiences with the Spanish language because unfortunately I was not taught Spanish in the classroom setting but picked it up on the street. Then after the improvised lesson I Googled for a concrete reference and quickly found an educational site that used great examples to explain in a
